The site located within the beautiful Wuyi Mountain area is surrounded by hills, brooks and tea plantations, owning perfect environment for quietness, nature and elegance pursued by CHEDI. On this site of 100 hectares, the client planned to build up a boutique holiday hotel with 120 guestrooms. The design attempted to divide hotel functions into compounds, in between the original topography would be kept. Starting from analyses on topography, sunshine, wind and landscape view, the design chose suitable areas along brooks and river valley for construction, distributing hotel functions accordingly. The terraced tea plantation in the middle of the site was left without any change. This deliberate ‘blank’ will be enjoyed as a landscape background by all compounds.
