Attic Renovation in Juziers Juziers / France / 2014
The family property “Le Mesnil”, in the north-central France, consists of a main building, where the owners live, and a second one, called as “Bungalow”, where their children and grandsons stay when they visit them.
The necessity for more space for the increasing grandchildren lead to the renovation of a part of the “Bungalow” building in the ground floor and the attic. The idea was the complete renovation, insulation and transformation of the inaccessible attic into a bedroom/playroom for the children, the connection with the room below, which used to be the library room of the family, and the bathroom addition in the ground level.
A library bookcase wall was designed to separate the bathroom from the access to the attic. The bathroom´s door has been completely integrated into the wall’s design to allow a private entrance to the adjacent bedroom.
