Black & White: A powerful expressive tool.

Many people believe that the white colour is neutral, cold and faceless. With our recent project we decided to prove the opposite, to prove that this colour is a powerful expressive tool that can transform the interior regardless of the style. This apartment with a beautiful view on Montmartre belongs to an French couple. He is a jewelry designer and she is a vocal teacher, while being a travellover and novelist. The professions of Frank and Colet, as well as the rhythm of their lives are rather quite intense.

What style to go for?

Their main requirement was: the creation of a cozy and bright home. They also wanted a dominance of strict clean lines, the use of more light colors and a minimalist design. We got immediately involved in the conceptual design!

The Main Concept Idea

There are two kinds of white, the cold white and the warm white colour – the warm one is a symbol of harmony and peace, which is able to give a special chic side to our home. By using this warmer tone, we visually increased the volume by elongating the rooms and unite them into a single overflowing space without any barriers. Furthermore, we decided to combine different textures; a mix of smooth and rough surfaces, which together with the help of shadows and contrast decorated the space with different shades, leaving the monotony behind and diversifying the interior. On the other hand, the modern and stylish Do-Maru chair stands out in this living room by its unique and organic form. The light grey elements, such as the puff and sofa along with the black table, lamp and ladder are found back together within the frame hanging in the wall, never transmitting something else than harmony among all the pieces. The flat became with no doubt, more expressive!
