Barbieria - Via Solferino | deltastudio

In a street of craft shops, in the historic centre of Ronciglione, the Barbieria has kept its originality. A large warehouse on the ground floor of one of the many Renaissance buildings that characterize the centre of the city. A place for Andrea, the barber, full of memories... here his dad started the barbershop activity in the late 1940s.

The powerful wall structure defines the spaces. An arch of the building foundation transversely cuts the linearity of the plan. A linearity that from the main street (Via Solferino, from which the Barbieria takes its name) crosses the space and arrives in the inner courtyard of the building. Thus, a passage. The project aims indeed to a flow of more operations that, by synthesis, can meet the needs of restyling.

Today we have the furnishings of what was the first barber shop: the counter, the cash register and some stools. All in wood, all designed and built by Andrea's father: it is up to us designers to integrate them into the project. Hence the need for a light and essential intervention that combines at the same time functions, spaces and visual perceptions, through the use of points, lines and surfaces.

The walls become mirrors, thus assuming the dual function of beauty instruments and natural light diffusers. Moreover, for a game of reflexes, they reveal the recovery of the courtyard that has so far been an off-limits area. The metal structure, a key element of the project, fits on the walls and leans on the old "family" furnishings. A series of actions that draw a flexible and dynamic space.

The new Barbieria distances itself from the now stereotypical image of the barber shop thanks to the detailsthat give it unique elegance and peculiarity. Today, as then, this place is characterized by the union of simple and above all handcrafted elements, distinctive of the space they draw.

In una via di botteghe artigianali, nel centro storico di Ronciglione, la Barbieria ha mantenuto la sua originalità. Un ampio magazzino, al piano terra di uno dei tanti palazzi rinascimentali che caratterizzano il centro della Città. Un luogo per Andrea, il barbiere, pieno di ricordi… qui suo papà avvio l’attività di barbieria alla fine degli anni Quaranta.

La possente struttura muraria definisce gli ambienti. Un arco di fondazione taglia trasversalmente la linearità della pianta. Una linearità che dalla via principale (Via Solferino, da cui prende il nome la Barbieria) attraversa il locale ed arriva nella corte interna del palazzo. Un passaggio quindi. Il progetto aspira appunto ad un flusso di più operazioni che per sintesi possa soddisfare le esigenze del restyling.

Di quello che fu la prima barbieria abbiamo ad oggi gli arredi: il bancone, la cassa e qualche sgabello. Tutti in legno, tutti pensati e costruiti dal papà di Andrea. A noi il compito di integrarli. Da qui l’esigenza di un intervento leggero ed essenziale che unisce ad un tempo funzioni, spazi e percezioni visive, attraverso l’uso di punti, linee e superfici.

Le pareti si fanno specchi, assumendo così la doppia funzione di strumenti di bellezza e diffusori di luce naturale. Inoltre, per un gioco di riflessi gli stessi svelano il recupero di quel cortile fino ad oggi interdetto.
La struttura metallica, elemento chiave del progetto, si incastra tra le mura e si appoggia sui vecchi arredi “di famiglia”. Un susseguirsi di azioni che disegnano uno spazio flessibile e dinamico.

I dettagli conferiscono alla nuova Barbieria un’eleganza ed una particolarità unica nel suo genere, che allontanano l’immagine ormai stereotipata del barber shop. Oggi come allora questo luogo è caratterizzato dall'unione di elementi semplici e soprattutto artigianali, distintivi dello spazio che disegnano.
