Placemaking for Walkable Cities Bogotá / Colombia / 2019
Cebras Por La Vida (Crossings for Life) is an Art´s Communication Initiative, involving communities and increasing public awareness of the importance of more walkable and livable cities (www.cebrasporlavida.com) (Winner of the 2014 Urban Sustainability Award at World Urban Forum, Medellin, Colombia- Winner of the Walking Visionaries Award at the Walk 21 Conference in 2015) (Watch Video) (Read article The Atlantic City Lab ). The project has been replicated throughout Latin America cities.
The project intends to make visible the lack of respect, comfort and safety conditions to walk in the city.It is an energetic and citizen driven call for action to act upon a tragedy that costs lives and undermines our quality of life. Designing and building our cities through the eyes of pedestrians´ needs brings dignity and livability to our city life. Cebras por la Vida is an effort to bring back the fun and seriousness to the process of reclaiming our city by fighting through art and citizen engagement for a cause that involves us all.
