The architect, Rui Costa, has made use of several products from the PORCELANOSA Grupo in this 4.200 m² space.

Its interior vertical garden is considered as being one of the largest in Europe, and it also divides the two restaurant areas without causing any contrasts whatsoever.

With a lush vertical garden as the centre, the Bálamo restaurant reproduces the purity of nature in its area of 4.200m2 area. Specialising in seafood and fish, this ‘sea port’ in Alcorcón has counted on the guidance of the Portuguese architect, Rui Costa.

A garden on the high seas

A supporter of sustainable architecture and healthy environments, Costa has brought several green spaces together to distinguish between the different restaurant areas in a balanced way. A result where the different materials he has used from the PORCELANOSA Grupo have also played an important role in the rooms in establishment itself.

The set of staircases located in the core of the restaurant brings different atmospheres together under the same industrial style. On the main floor, one can find: the bar area, the restaurant, private rooms and the interior garden; the latter connecting with the ‘Alta mar’  which is the space on the upper floor that is set aside for: drinks, events, celebrations and shows. ‘La Playa’, which is a children’s playground, is located on the lower floor.

A transoceanic journey that started in 2018 and which has continued to see its gastronomic and architectural possibilities expanded. This is what happens in the 350m2 garden area, where some 350 people can breathe in the oxygen that is produced yearly, with some 234.5 tonnes of harmful gases that are filtered away on a yearly basis.

These healthy measures have counted on pieces from: Porcelanosa, Venis, L’Antic Colonial and Butech; four of the eight firms that make up PORCELANOSA Grupo.

Industrial aesthetics based on stone and cement
The wall tiles from the Oxo Deco XL and Samoa Antracita collection by Porcelanosa provide the space with warmth and sobriety through their textures and tones.

In the aforementioned natural evocation, the ceramic wood from Starwood has strengthened the feeling of warmth and familiarity. Specifically, in the Nebraska Coffee and Tanzania Almond tones, which are the two colours that lead the way in the main dining room, and which make contrast with the Ferroker collection by Venis. Metal which searches for light in rust. One of the other standout pieces is none other than Sea Silver, a metallic wall tile which give spaces greater volume.

L’Antic Colonial is also present in the bathrooms, with its Zeno Grey Stone Pulido and Zeno Persian White Pulido basins. Back to early western constructions.

When it came to having the project built, the architect and his team made use of these two grouting materials: Colorstuck Rapid N in white, grey, anthracite and black tones; and the  Colorstuck Especial N in the Graphite, Oak, Doussie and Anthracite colours. To these products from the company, Butech, the adhesives and fastening elements can be added for the 33.3cmx100cm Sea Silver model from Venis, and the self-levelling spacers kit as well.
