As one drives away from the city it gives one the sense of getting away, escaping stress and disconnecting from routine. The question here is from what exactly are we trying to disconnect? Work, social life, technology? Whatever the reason, a natural peaceful environment is usually the answer.
Imagine now, a tea maker company located in a remote area. A business that works directly with nature is opening their doors to welcome anyone searching for real disconnection, communitarian service and meditation.
Located 100km away from Riga, Ozolini tea makers are expanding their tea making experience with anyone who is interested in having a space for themselves and their thoughts. Which is why meditation cabins for individuals are in the process of being built. They are influenced by Brazilian Cobogos to create an environment of isolation and enclosure, with the aim to give an experience of solitude, darkness, brightness and silence at the same time.
The vast green plain areas and the planting process at Ozolini, focused on crop rotation, inspired the design of the cabins as an open space plan with movable furniture, fixtures and equipment, all made with local materials and local craftsmanship. The use of birch wood, one of Latvia’s top export wood, makes it easy to obtain facilitating repairs and further building. To reduce the impact on the environment the use of dry toilets is encouraged; and have been located in a separate unit per cabin.
In a country such as Latvia, one cannot ignore the weather, especially the rainy days, one of the most important components of their forests and wild nature. Water, as a meditation element, is recognised as purifying and cleansing. For this reason, when those joyful rainy days arrive, the water falling over the cabins will start a short but significant journey, from the front, where the inner terrace is, to the separate unit at the back, ending in a waterfall which will add to the ambience created for the cabins.
