La casa unifamiliare progettata dallo studio spagnolo A-cero di Joaquin Torres sorge su un’isola caraibica della Repubblica Dominicana in cui regna tutto l’anno il clima mite e la cui posizione, su un lotto di 7000 mq, ne ha determinato fin dall’inizio le scelte progettuali.
Joaquín Torres ha pensato a due blocchi ben differenziati da cui si sviluppa un gioco di volumi curvilinei che svettano verso il cielo. L’abitazione, per esigenze del committente, si sviluppa su un solo livello ed è interamente rivestita di pietra corallina locale dai toni chiari (bianco e beige) il cui candore è messo in risalto dall’accecante luce solare e dal mare che la fronteggia.
Dall'ingresso principale, la casa sembra nascondersi dietro una sequenza di pareti curve che creano un insieme scultoreo. Al centro, una grande porta a doppia anta in legno dà accesso all’alloggio che possiede ovunque ventilazione trasversale, in modo da poter trarre il massimo vantaggio del clima dei Caraibi e, in particolare, dalla brezza marina.
Tutti gli arredi interni sono realizzati su misura in Spagna e su disegno di A-cero che, progettando arredi in legno laccato bianco, ha voluto lasciare gli ampi spazi della casa nella più totale semplicità e liberi da ricche decorazioni. La pietra corallina esterna è stata adottata anche all'interno per garantire una continuità visiva, oltre che per le sue caratteristiche che la rendono adatta al clima caldo di tutto l'anno. L'alloggio è aperto verso l'esterno su quasi tutti i fronti, con ampie porte-finestre e la sensazione esterno-interno si perde grazie alla presenza dei giardini anche all’interno della casa. All’esterno si è posta molta attenzione all’architettura del paesaggio utilizzando vegetazione autoctona e le diverse specie di palme presenti sull’isola (Palma da Cocco, Palma Bottiglia, Palma Areca).
La casa, che sorge in riva al mare su una spiaggia privata, dispone anche di una piscina in cui predominano le linee curve e che sembra estendersi nel Mar dei Caraibi.
