Some hig-culture peoples, who love european towns and who rightly grieve over their decline begun during the last century, declared war against the "skyscraper", pointing out their unfavourable sides, both environmental and economic, and other....
On my behalf, as well I join their own severe judgement on current built environment's quality, I don't impute to this building sort - sic et simpliciter - the responsibility for ugliness surrounds us.
War, yes - not to skyscraper - but against to actual trash belt-production, without regard to sites, traditions, customs; against the show-architecture, addressing to public astonishment and provocation.
This present year it recurres the second millennium of Augusto's death, whom Rome owes its unique position in Western Civilization. Let's dedicate to him this Grattacielo Romano, ideally enclosed in EUR district, the most significant example of italian twentieth-century architecture and town-design, inn the place where the Arc of Adalberto Libera should have risen.
Perhaps he wouldn't have minded.
