History of the Abbaye d'Aulne.
The site is located in the Walloon region of Belgium in a place known as The Peace River by the Sambre River, was founded by Abbot Landline of Grespin in 657 AD and turned into a monastery in 1147. Abbaye d'Aulne alternates brilliant and decadent periods until 1794 when he suffered serious damage by the French revolutionary troops. In 1859, when the last monk died, the Monastery was abandoned and converted into a guest house. In 2006, the Abbey became Walloon property as a historical monument.
