How can a 200-year-old Maisäß been remodeled into a hotel with a restaurant, suites and a wellness area?

The “Am Holand” hotel complex can be seen from afar. Two buildings with a gable roof and a connecting building are situated on a south-facing slope above the village. The western building - a wooden structure over 200 years old - and the connecting building have been renovated and expanded in two construction phases. Architecturally, the focus is on opening up and expanding the rooms. This is to strengthen the view into a wonderful landscape and to offer the guest a generous, coherent spatial structure. In 2018, the existing building on the first floor was expanded with a wellness facility and an outdoor pool was added. A relaxation room got added in the connecting building. The second construction phase took place in 2021. The guest is now welcomed in the new lobby on the ground floor of the connecting building. In the evening, the “Trustbar” opens in the lobby and with the fireplace and the view of the mountain scenery, another magnificent spatial experience is created for the guest. The host and landlord is also the head chef. The kitchen is positioned as an open kitchen between the lobby and the dining rooms. This means that the landlord is always present for his guests, and the guest can take a look over his shoulder while he is cooking. Only the height-adjustable counter separates the kitchen from the dining area. The counter serves as a breakfast buffet in the morning, becomes a cake buffet in the afternoon and is finally a bar or chef's table in the evening. The old dining rooms got refreshed and two more dining rooms got added. The three spacious suites surprise with their exciting spatial structure. Freestanding showers or bathtubs with a view of the sky increase the exceptional experience. Everything is made with local wood and by craftsmen from the village, a consistently practice of regionality. Walls and ceilings are made of brushed fir wood, the floors are made of soaped, rough sawn beech. The dark stained beech furniture in the suites contrast the light wooden surfaces.

Wie wird aus einem 200 Jahre alten Maisäß ein Hotel mit Restaurant, Suiten und einer Wellnesslandschaft?

Schon von Weitem ist die Hotelanlage Am Holand zu sehen. Zwei Baukörper mit Satteldach und einem Verbindungsbau sind an einem Südhang über der Gemeinde situiert. Der westliche Baukörper – ein über 200 Jahre alter Holzbau - und der Verbindungsbau sind in zwei Bauetappen saniert und erweitert. Architektonisch liegt der Schwerpunkt im Öffnen und Erweitern der Räume. Dies um den Ausblick und den Bezug in die herrliche Landschaft zu verstärken und dem Gast ein großzügiges zusammenhängendes Raumgefüge anzubieten. 2018 wurde im 1. Obergeschoss das Bestandshaus mit einer Wellnessanlage erweitert und einem Außenpool ergänzt. Im Verbindungsbau wurde ein Ruheraum eingefügt. 2021 erfolgte die zweite Bauetappe. Der Gast wird nun in der neuen Lobby im Erdgeschoss des Verbindungsbaus empfangen. Abends öffnet sich die Trustbar in der Lobby und mit dem Kaminfeuer, dem Blick in die Bergkulisse entsteht ein weiterer Aufenthaltsraum für den Gast.

Der Hausherr ist zugleich Küchenchef. Die Küche ist als offene Küche zwischen Lobby und Gaststuben platziert. Dadurch ist der Hausherr bei seinen Gästen stets präsent, der Gast kann ihm beim Kochen über die Schulter blicken. Lediglich die höhenverstellbare Theke trennt die Küche zum Gastraum. Die Theke dient in der Früh als Frühstücksbuffet, wird am Nachmittag zum Kuchenbuffet und am Abend schließlich zur Bar oder Chefs Table.

Die alten Gaststuben erhalten ein Facelift und werden um zwei weitere Gaststuben erweitert.
Die drei großzügigen Suiten überraschen mit spannendem Raumgefüge. Freistehende Duschen oder Badewannen mit Blick in den Himmel steigern das Aufenthaltserlebnis. Gefertigt ist alles mit heimischen Hölzern und von Handwerkern aus dem Dorf, konsequent gelebte Regionalität. Wände und Decken sind aus gebürstetem Tannenholz, die Zimmerböden aus geseifter, sägerauher Buche. Die dunkel gebeizten Buchenmöbel in den Zimmern bilden den Kontrast zu den hellen Holzoberflächen.
