ITALIA PAVILION EXPO 2015 | Morena Architects
International Design Competition Milan / Italy / 2013
ARCH. FRANCESCO MORENA

DESCRIPTION: The project elaborates components from traditional Italian Architecture from a digital point of view, developing a new language consistent with the construction techniques used. The reference to Italian composition is very strict in its use of geometry, in which a largely formal freedom can find its own space. Here, a fractal composition starts from a regular pentagonal shape and goes on to compose a tessellation of the second floor. The Pentagon, which is at the origin of the architectural composition of the pavilion, represents an infinite container of relationships in its golden section that characterizes the classical eurythmy of architecture and Renaissance Art.The structural construction technique is analogous to that used in the Buildings of Cardo, by molding 3d layers of stone veneer. This methodology is that of the innovative D-shape created by the Italian Engineer Enrico Dini.
