The concept of this space comes from what we want that space expresses itself, due to it is our own studio.
We want to create a comfortable and functional space that at the same time, talks about our projects and our way to design.
Because of this, we generate an honest space where the architecture and materials are the paramount information.
The space is a 140m2 flat, situated in a typical building of Madrid from the 20’s. We want to respect the aesthetics and to find its original materials, its authenticity, its materiality and the passage of the time itself.
Contribute only what is necessary for the space to serve us to develop our work.
In order to get this, the original openings that had been closed due to the time, are re-opened generating a fluid space owing to the fact that every room is communicated.
The original floorings are respected and moreover, many floors are discovered removing the many layers that covered them.
Regarding walls and ceilings, the numerous layers of paint are jabbed, leaving the plaster and the original woodwork and moldings in its original status.
The walls and ceilings present their original material and all the interventions they have suffered remain intact, expressing that passage of time in the ceilings and walls.
This line of time is completed with the new we bring to the space, always in white, in order to not enter into the competition. This results in a chromatic range of what was old and what is new.
About electricity and data installations, we carry these without having to hide anything from what exists, so, we opted for an exposed system of tubes in white adapting to the existing without modifying it.
The result is an honest space, which speaks of the nature of materials and timelessness, three basic concepts of how we understand architecture.

El concepto de este espacio surge de lo que queremos que el propio espacio exprese, ya que se trata de nuestro propio estudio.
Queremos que sea un lugar de trabajo cómodo y funcional a la vez que hable de nuestros propios proyectos y manera de concebirlos.
Por ello generamos un espacio honesto, en el que sean los propios materiales y la arquitectura la que hable.
El espacio se trata de un piso de 140 m2, situado en una edificación típica de Madrid de los años 20. Queremos respetar esa estética y descubrir sus materiales originales, su autenticidad, su materialidad y el propio paso del tiempo.
Aportar sólo lo necesario para que el espacio nos sirva para desarrollar nuestro trabajo.
Para llegar a esto, se vuelven a abrir todos los huecos originales que habían sido cerrados a través de los años, generado un espacio fluido ya que todas las estancias quedan comunicadas;
se respetan los suelos originales y se destapan muchos de ellos (suelos hidráulicos) que presentaban varias capas de las numerosas intervenciones.
A nivel de paredes y techos se pican las numerosas capas de pintura que presentaban, dejando al desnudo el yeso y se respetan las carpinterías de madera y molduras originales.
Las propias paredes y techos presentan su material original y todas las intervenciones que han sufrido quedan intactas, expresando ese paso del tiempo.
Esta línea del tiempo la completamos con lo nuevo que aportamos al espacio, siempre en color blanco, para que no entre en competencia, resultando una gama cromática de lo que había y lo nuevo.
Para poder llevar las instalaciones necesarias de electricidad y datos sin tener que ocultar nada de lo existente, optamos por un sistema visto de tubos y candilejas retroilumiada en blanco que simplemente se adapten a lo existente sin modificarlo.
El resultado es un espacio honesto, que habla de la naturaleza de los materiales y la atemporalidad, tres conceptos básicos de como entendemos la arquitectura.
