This 45 sqm apartment designed for a young couple is located in a modern building in the Kyiv city center.
The original planning included a large bedroom, a non-functional hall, and a glazed balcony.
As opposed to the spacious bedroom, the kitchen was too small with no living room area at all.
Since the clients used to spend most of their time in the living room and kitchen, it was decided to make a new planning, built around this functional zone.
We've removed all the walls to win more free space and light. The living room, kitchen, and the dining area are located by the panoramic windows. The bedroom area was moved to the back of the room, behind the glass partition, which transmits light and protects from noise.
Also, we've organized a lot of space for storage and a small closet, which hidden behind a bright blue curtain. The budget was limited, so we used minimum finishing materials, simply coloring the concrete ceilings and walls but keeping the texture of the concrete.
In the kitchen area, hall and bathroom the walls were decked with white tiles, and all the new walls, which were constructed from concrete blocks, were left as is. We've chosen the natural linoleum as a floor covering.
As opposed to the clean and cold ascetic of concrete, glass, stainless steel, used as the building materials, the vintage furniture acquires a special charm and makes this interior cozy.
