NOMO Studio´s proposal for low – cost housing units in Sollentuna, Sweden revolves around the concept of a neighbourhood that reinforces the character of the area by highlighting the social aspect of living, outdoor life and proximity to nature. A very important part of the design is the courtyard that provides the conditions for a large social exchange and enables an active life. The natural environment should not only be around the area but also within the neighbourhood.

The proposal aims to provide the number of young people experiencing housing shortages with small, cheap and attractive apartments. The spontaneous meeting between neighbours is encouraged by the large community areas with different environments, the bridges, which connect the residents literally and metaphorically and the green courtyard which is both public and private place.  The design aims to reflect the duality of area between the urban lifestyle and the healthy, full of movement and social interactions way of living.
