COMMERCIAL Bar Royal Café | Pompei - Itália | Marana Romão
Pompei / Italy / 2010
Designed in partnership with architects Leopoldo Schettino, Giuseppe Ingenito and Filipe de Souza the Royal bar is located in the City of Pompei, Italy, opposite the entrance to the archaeological park of Pompeii.
The archaeological park of Pompeii is a popular tourist attraction in Italy and its history began with the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius, which hid the city under ashes for 1,600 years.
In view of this scenario, the project of the Royal Bar had its conceptual inspiration based on the historical context of the city and brought as symbolism the lava of the volcano Vesuvius represented by reddish rocks that appear in the access of the stairs. The treatment of the facade remained neutral and the use of the white and gray colors depicting the lava stone was sought, where a respectful intervention was sought in front of the volcano.
The neutral colors were chosen as the white and the gray of the lava stone in the pictures and the base part, in the attempt to intervene in a calm and respectful way in the historical context.
