Room Mate Hotels, the hotel chain bringing an innovative approach to the tourism industry, founded and chaired by Kike Sarasola, bolsters its presence in Malaga with the opening of its third hotel in the city. Room Mate Valeria is a significant investment to help support tourism in Malaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol, and joins the existing properties of Room Mate Larios and Room Mate Lola.

The building is designed by Alejandro Armenteros de Dalmases and offers 61 rooms divided into five categories. Located in the heart of the city, it is just a few metres away from the Mediterranean Sea and next to Larios Street. One of its distinguishing features is its beautiful terrace with a stunning rooftop pool, which is set to become ‘the place to be’ for locals as well as visitors to the city.

On the ground floor there is a restaurant. For fitness conscious guests, there is a 60M2 gym complete with facilities.

Design is an integral and distinguishing feature of Room Mate Hotels. The creative process begins with the selection of the property: a city centre location plus a building with a heritage, which will provide a story and personality to the project. Designers are invited to create bold, individual and welcoming spaces that, alongside the friendly service, impart a feeling of staying in a friend’s home.

Internationally renowned interior designers and sisters Victoria and Sylvia Melian are the creators behind Room Mate Valeria’s beautiful decor. They have instilled the hotel with a striking, fun, sophisticated personality and above all, remained faithful to the essence of Malaga.

Inspired by its location, the rooms are decorated in seafaring shades with white as the base colour. The overall colour palette consists of bright turquoise, shades of green and navy, contrasting with white marble floors and black furnishings in the rooms.

The public areas reflect the vegetation surrounding the hotel with large tropical leaves in various shades of green. For the terrace, which has spectacular sea views, Melian Randolph has chosen turquoise and white, creating a fresh Mediterranean atmosphere.

The lobby features sophisticated, modern lighting with contrasting reclaimed traditional Andalusian metal lanterns for the facades and public areas.

The Andalusian influence is further reflected in the two courtyards through the cobblestone pavement from Córdoba (Andalusia, Spain) placed by hand in black and white, rattan furniture and large yellow-glazed pots.

In the fabric choices throughout the hotel, designers Gaston and Daniela or Francisco Jover have left their mark in the rooms with their characteristic floral prints. In the public areas, visitors will be charmed by a unique “Ybarra Serret” design, created exclusively for Room Mate and inspired by the lush vegetation found in Malaga.
