L’EDIFICIO È LEGGERO, I MATERIALI NATURALI, RICICLATI, RICICLABILI, ASSEMBLATI A SECCO, FACILMENTE SMONTABILI E RE-IMPIEGABILI.
 
L’edificio lineare del concorso di Itri, si sviluppa su quattro piani fuori terra secondo l’asse est-ovest ed è stato posizionato verso il lato nord del lotto per consentire di ottenere, a sud, un’area verde sufficientemente ampia. All’edificio si accede attraversando l’area verde, mediante un percorso pedonale che raggiunge il fabbricato in corrispondenza di un taglio verticale centrale che sottolinea l’ingresso.  Sulla facciata sono state incise delle logge che si aprono alla visione del panorama delle colline circostanti. Le logge sono state concepite come una sottrazione dal volume prismatico di partenza: un vuoto di uno o più piani che in alcuni casi attraversa da parte a parte il corpo dell’edificio. Questi spazi all’aperto, collettivi o privati, sono filtrati e protetti mediante frangisole lignei apribili che continuano anche in copertura ridefinendo il volume di partenza. Il prospetto si caratterizza per la sua compostezza formale e la generosa dimensione delle aperture schermate da ombreggiature a “L” e persiane in legno mobili. Sul retro lo svuotamento dei volumi è ricomposto dallo sviluppo orizzontale dei ballatoi; la facciata nord si distingue, nel parsimonioso inserimento di aperture, per l’accordo di elementi puntuali colorati sui toni del verde ed elementi lineari trasparenti.  L’edificio è leggero, non pesa sull’ambiente, l’energia grigia è stata contenuta scegliendo materiali naturali, facilmente reperibili in loco, riciclati, riciclabili, assemblati a secco e quindi facilmente smontabili e re-impiegabili.

The building is in line with the Itri competition requirements. It consists of four floors above ground level with an east-west axis and it was positioned to the north of the site, allowing for a larger green area facing the South. The entrance to the building is enhanced by a pedestrian path cutting vertically across the green.  To the front of the building lodges have been established, they open onto a view of the surrounding hills. They were designed to reduce the impact of the prism structure: they are an open space of one or more floors that can extend the length of the building. These open spaces, for private or collective use, are protected and shaded by wooden sunscreens. The front of the building is characterized by a formal and orderly appearance. It has large windows with L shaped shading and sliding wooden shutters. At the back of the building open spaces have been created by the presence of horizontal balconies. The residential tower faces south with large balconies that are screened by shading, green climbing plants and solar greenhouses. The other facades are accentuated by balconies, ventilated with strong material characteristics and openings that were designed with simplicity according to the lighting needs of the residential spaces.  The building does not impose on the surrounding environment, the materials chosen were natural materials readily available on site, recycled, recyclable, dry assembled and therefore easily removed and reused.
