We started to develop the project thinking that an open-air out park did not have to impact the existing landscape but that it should rather be a discovery for visitors. That’s why we wanted to keep the existing walkway as the main route to guarantee a faster way to reach the fort and to design longer underground secondary paths that allow visitors to discover the art installation in the park. Walking along the new route, the visitor will arrive at the installation attracted by the light that will illuminate the works.

The park in fact will be characterized by holes of different sizes and shapes that along the path will allow to illuminate the works and characterize the landscape seen from the fort. The aim will be to go through the park, discover and admire the present contemporary installations and finally to arrive to the main attraction that is the fort.

We like to see the fort as the final aim of the path, the point of arrival of a walk immersed in the art that ends with the tradition and the Sicilian and Italian culture.  Added value will be given by the landscape that sorrounds the fort: it will leave the visitors speechless once arrived at the top of the fort. On one side it will be possible to admire the town of Favignana and the whole Sicilian coast, while on the other side the quietness and the tranquility given by the nature and the typical landscape of the place.

Precisely because of this set of factors, it was decided to place a flexible pubblic connection space and a new plaza between the two existing buildings.
