This house sits at the edge of a nature preserve with protected views to the adjacent woodlands.The client wanted a swimming pool to be the center of the home’s layout and activities. We accomplished this by intersecting the pool and the house, creating an L-shaped plan where the living room is surrounded on three sides by water. So although the house sits within a forest, its connection to water is ever present. A two-foot band of perimeter windows enlivens the interior spaces with water views and reflections. The opposite end of the house cantilevers over a sloping landscape where it has views to the forest treetops while shading a terrace below.
