Nomad Hotel is the latest four star hotel by the Basel based hospitality group Krafft. Completed in 2016 the 65 roomed minimalistic hotel covers two mid century residential buildings on Brunngässlein in the centre of Basel with areas open to the public in the former courtyard of the complex.

The local practice Büchner Bründler preferred a rather open floor plan for the complex and made ample use of stark in-situ concrete for both for guest rooms, reception areas and the bar / restaurant on the ground floor which forms the heart of the hotel. The eatery is loosely divided into two main areas: a dining area with leather seating and wooden tables under a large skylight and bar area with low tables, armchairs and an extremely imposing bar with a very bold turquoise back and theatrical lighting.

Interiors present a strong contrast with the stark concrete with 1500 square meters of bold kilim fabric used for carpeting, headboards, furniture upholstery and sound absorbing ceiling panes designed by Grego for the Nomad Project Collection. Grego preferred bold contemporary urban patterns and strong colours for the kilim design especially produced in India under close supervision of textile experts Kinnesand / Kvadrat who partnered up for the textiles of the collection.

Other furnishings were made to measure in close collaboration with designers and specialists in the industry. The wooden furnishings, consisting of seats, chairs, upholstered armchairs as well as part of the outdoor seating for the dehors on Brunngässlein were designed by Swiss designer This Weber and produced by Very Wood, a branch of the Italian Gervasoni Group.
