Introduction

Aziz-Allahov building is located in city of Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran. Aziz-Allahov has been on the southern margin of the city within the Eidgah neighborhood in the past, and now is located in the center of Mashhad, Abbasgholi Khan's alley and on the southern side of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza.

History

This building was built in 1968 by Haj Gholam Hossein Salem Mashhadi, as "Trade Market"  for the export of various products, and has long been a privileged and thriving building. Construction activities in recent years have caused a lot of damage to the traditional architecture of the city of Mashhad.

Design

Aziz-Allahov is one of the old buildings in the city that is about to be destroyed through this. In this academic proposal for the restoration of the Aziz-Allahov building, which is proposed in 2018, intending to maintain it, the idea of updating existing commercial uses considering the context needs such as temporary residence, traditional kitchens and souvenir shops, is been discussed. Also in the physical shape of the building, extensions and renovations, such as the installation of elevators in the central part of the building, the use of solar cells on the roof and the expansion of greenery in the courtyard has been done in order to retrieve paradigms of Persian garden.
