Compact Urban Living New York / United States / 2017
This pre-war apartment exudes compact urban living, full of smartly hidden storage and light maximizing colors, the space feels airy and bright. Every inch of space is utilized while maintaining gracious rooms. Walls were eliminated between the kitchen and living area, the Kitchen and Dining areas were reversed, and what had originally been the bedroom hall became the eat-in Kitchen. Light is the thematic key of the home actualized by lightly stained wide plank oak floors, bright off white paint colors, reflective materials like glass and mirror, open views to and through rooms, and layers of artificial and natural illumination. The result is a petite apartment living much larger and more intelligently than it’s former iterations.
