Ville-Marie Apartment | naturehumaine [architecture+design]

The project is located in a 1980’s downtown tower. The interior renovation project aims to completely open a space originally partitioned and to compensate for the lack of light at the heart of the apartment.

From the entrance, the space is articulated around a reflective stainless steel block, whose reflection causes a slight distortion of the straight lines, while reflecting the light and fading in its context.

A series of oak veneered sliding panels bring a rhythm to the classic partition of the dwelling, in which rooms are distributed on either side of the corridor. The flexibility of these panels allows indirect daylight to penetrate into the corridor area and multiplies the possibilities of use of the rooms, according to the degree of privacy required. Therefore, the office occasionally turns into a second guest room.

The kitchen, which now opens into the living area, is distinguished by sober colour tones, from white to dark gray. The use of glass for the backsplash goes along with the idea of maximizing reflection and creating a captivating depth. The bathrooms are characterized by touches of colours, which, together with the integrated furniture of the vanities, bring a singularity to the project.

Le projet se situe au Centre-Ville dans une tour de copropriétés datant des années 80. Le projet de rénovation intérieure vise à ouvrir complètement un espace originellement cloisonné et de pallier le manque de lumière naturelle au cœur du logement.

Dès l’entrée, l’espace s’articule autour d’un bloc en inox réfléchissant. La réflexion de ce matériau provoque une légère distorsion des lignes droites, tout en reflétant la lumière et en s’effaçant dans son contexte.

La partition classique du logement, avec les pièces distribuées de part et d’autre du couloir, devient rythmée par des panneaux coulissants plaqués en chêne blanc. La flexibilité de ces cloisons mobiles permet de faire entrer la lumière en second jour et de multiplier les possibilités d’usages des pièces, selon le degré d’intimité requis. Ainsi, le bureau se transforme occasionnellement en chambre d’invité.

La cuisine qui s’ouvre maintenant sur l’espace de vie, se distingue par des tonalités de couleurs sobres, allant du blanc au gris foncé. L’utilisation du verre pour le mur de l’espace de cuisson va dans l’idée de maximiser la réflexion en créant une profondeur captivante. Les salles de bains se caractérisent quant à elles, par des touches de couleur, qui, alliées au mobilier intégré des vanités, apportent une singularité au projet.
