The flat is surrounded by a typical Tuscany forest between Apuane Alps and Tirreno sea.
The aim of the design was to distil the feeling from this particular place connecting the surrounding natural elements, mountain, sea and pine forest.
The material research was really important in that spirit.
A natural light wood was made into doors and structural panel for the new layout space as vertical element to get in touch with the pine forest as olphactive visive and tactile perception.
A geometrical pattern in the floor gives the perfect sensation and gets inside the flat with a blast of sea, wind and bright beach.
A bright glass wall, milk colour, lights up a windowless bathroom space when the sun touches it. The bathroom is naturally illuminated only by the bright wall glass which is at the same time frame element between two bathrooms and a play between two showers, a big one and a small one. In this way two bathrooms merged in one as a big volume dedicated to the bath area.
The layout and the built-in closets capacity were studied in details to maximize the organisation in 60 sq. with 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, to be as space efficient as possible.
The same attention to the materials was put in the styling and props research. Colour materials, objects and accessories from various travels in Europe recall the sea atmosphere, and at the same time some special objects from owner’s grandmother, revisited, give warm feeling.
This house keeps a strong influence from its natural roots while speaking at the same time a language from largescale European influence.

"We now feel the sea breeze, a smell of pine wood and fresh aromatiques herbs entering and surrounding our house".
