Sacmi, a leading company in the field of machines for ceramics, packaging, food and automation, has recently renovated its historic “partner lounge”, making it a more suitable space for hosting different types of events, including cultural and public events. A visually impressive building with a deceptively simple architectural design.

The building is very distinctive thanks to its external walls, made up of “air cushions” in ETFE fluoropolymer membranes that, in addition to letting daylight fill the interiors, ensure resistance to weather conditions, and boast ductility, durability over time and excellent insulation. An innovative material which is increasingly used in high-level sports facilities and urban design.

The project takes advantage of the semi-transparency of ETFE in the absence of natural light. RGB Strip lights were installed in the same iron structure that supports the cushions: at sunset, these back lights create colourful geometric patterns spreading over the entire external surface of the building.

Vigilant underwater spotlights were fitted in the tanks placed at the foot of the building, emphasizing water reflections and making the overall design even more evocative. The project was completed with other outdoor fittings such as Techo67 downlights, Clivo projectors and Ryo bollards, used in the spaces that separate the auditorium from the company headquarters.
