La Bocca | NOTE Design Studio

In the upscale area of Östermalm in Stockholm we were asked to do the interior for a new very ambitious Italian restaurant. The food is traditional Italian with carefully selected produce and an Italian wine list that is the most extensive in the region. 

But this is an Italian restaurant with a Nordic temper and atmosphere. The interior palette is dominated by blue and sand tones, but not the blue and sand as you will find on a Mediterranean beach but rather the grey blue nuances and wet sand from the Stockholm archipelago an early morning. But still — in the Nordic expression there are some of the classical markers from many Italian restaurants like the wall panelling, wooden chairs, wall mounted lighting fixtures, white linen table cloth, stone countertops and whine bottles on display. La Bocca is however not a pastisch on something already existing, it is a modern Italian restaurant in Stockholm with its own expression and poise. We have tried to combine the best of two strong cultures — the vibrant food, wine and the cool aesthetics.
