WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business)

The interior design of the main entrance hall of the library and learning centres of the Vienna University of Economic Sciences is a prime example of Bastian Stöcklein. He is interior designer and managing director of MalscherSitzMöbel, located in Malsch, Germany. His unique and interdisciplinary concept is impressive: The high quality seating furniture of the company in Malsch merge with the very modern architecture of the main entrance hall which seems even more remarkable through the contract furniture.

In case of the main entrance hall of WU Vienna, Bastian Stöcklein chooses the MSM Classic Series 3100 furniture which he complemented with wooden shells (3352) that are formed according to the latest ergonomic knowledge. A robust but still comfortable chair. Its staining of the wood matches the wall colour and its upholstery matches the colouring of the floor covering. To highlight the individuality of this model, as well as the room itself, the interior designer integrated the logo of WU Vienna in the seat shell. 

The impression and the effect of the main entrance hall of WU Vienna represent the perfection and the attention to detail as well as the care and dedication of Bastian Stöcklein in its purest form. This project was also very special to him: It was one of the last projects that his father acquired and Bastian Stöcklein ended it in his sense. Furthermore, the building where the library and learning centres are located, was designed by the architect Zaha Hadid – a woman, whose art works have always been admired by Bastian Stöcklein. It was an honour for him to process his products for a room, she has created.  

In all his projects Bastian Stöcklein focusses on the scenography. Through the interaction of architecture and simple contract furniture, he achieves the special effect of a room. The scenography is the doctrine of the staging in the room and forms the foundation of every of his projects. Embedded in the room, for which the objects were created for, they raise emotions through this unique furnishing concept, as only staged statues in an exhibition can do so - synthesis of the arts arise.                

But such an effect does not only occur due to a creative interior designer and an interdisciplinary overall concept. It also requires furniture made out of high-quality material, that is individual adapted and processed.
