Is it possible to conjugate tradition and innovation?

The history of Mediobanca is the living proof of that: a bank born at the end of the 1940s to help the reconstruction of the Italian industry after WWII and that now has grown spectacularly, opening new branches all over the world.

The London branch decided to renew itself, to embody the changing of both the bank itself and the future.

The new office located on the 4th floor of a prestigious building on Buckingham Gate is the result in a long search for materials, details and solutions that could represent the importance of Mediobanca in the world.

The creation of tailor-made banking services , specifically designed for the need of each client, was reflected in a physical space by the design and architecture firm Il Prisma UK, the English branch of Il Prisma Group.

The banking service model was immediately identified by Il Prisma from the early stages as a pillar of this project, along with the Italian tradition and values that this bank preserves even in its new British home.

The metaphor “A Part for the Whole” was born: Mediobanca embodies and promotes the Italian culture as the source and identity of the bank itself in the English market.

The space can be perceived in a different way accordingly to the point of view of the observer, in a constant dialogue between different types of areas: a help desk, a break zone and a lounge room, all easily convertible to meet the requirements of everybody.

Transparency and sobriety are spread harmoniously all over the working area, equally hosting top managers and employees.

Now, Mediobanca office conveys a sense of openness and accessibility, as a whole new body in which tradition and innovation are finally merged. In this delicate balance between past and future, the materials play an essential role, evoking many of the intertwined relationships and opportunities that constitute the story and the future of Mediobanca.
