mezzanine | pura arquitectura
Dimensions of the room: 3.4 x 2.9 m / Height 3.47 m San Sebastian / Spain / 2018
The intervention makes the most of the height of the room to create a workspace and a resting space in less than 10 sqm. A piece of furniture is designed in 2 levels in pine wood with a bed in the upper area.
The mezzanine gets away from the windows of the room, freeing the circulation zone so that it maintains its original height and maximizes the entrance of light. It measures 2.0 x 2.8 m, so that you can place the bed in both directions and a projector hanging from the ceiling uses the wall as a screen to be watched from the bed.
The structure of the mezzanine is formed by beams of 10 x 7 cm perimetrally secured with expansion anchors to the existing brick walls reinforced with concrete. At the free edge, the structure is suspended from the concrete slab using a steel rod.
The stair has alternate steps to minimize plant occupancy and is in fact a shelf with large storage capacity. Attached to this piece, a sliding table allows to work with views to the outside.
Next to the access door of the room there is a wardrobe with sliding doors.
