An internal glazed and plant filled courtyard fosters a blurring of boundaries between the inside and outside at Mrs Custard's House in Brixton, London. Black brick wraps ribbon-like from the master bedroom through the kitchen and dining room and settles to form a second sunken courtyard. We created a generous and light-filled sequence of spaces which work both for our clients and for Mrs Custard, their cat. In fact, Mrs Custard is the proud owner of a cat flap which takes her through a cupboard, up some steps, through the wall and onto the bench outside. She couldn’t be happier.
