Bar Fase is an experimental space that activates during the events, hosted inside the former Pigna Paper Factory.

Designed to maintain the formal register of the liberty factory and its white colonnades, the bar is conceived to accommodate 5 different food operators at the same time operating at the same time.

Spazio Fase is a complex of industrial buildings in which a recovery project is underway from a splendid abandoned factory from the end of the 19th century (ex Cartiera Paolo Pigna) and is proposed as an experimental model for the economical-social regeneration of a territory. Characterized by an architectural structure developed on three floors, with a total area of 40.000 sqm partly already recovered, conserved and redeveloped. Located in the heart of Alzano Lombardo, a few km from Bergamo, it was created to host different experiences, as an incubator of ideas and startups and as a promoter of culture and environmental awareness, with an attentive and receptive eye on the territory. It is fueled by ever-changing socio-cultural events.

The architectural project aims to return part of the space to the community, opening up new squares, which are emerging as the non-historical superfetations, built over the years, are demolished. The internal functional program is in continuous evolution and at the moment we are experimenting with non-traditional and temporary use, however it is not excluded that part of the former paper mill returns to be productive in a totally new way compared to the past and supported by new functions and support services to events.

The third floor is the one that offers the best showcases of events like the Factory Market, a large market of young designers of clothes and objects and also an incubator of start-ups and young entrepreneurs.

Here we designed Bar Fase, a welcoming space that functions during events, keeping the formal register of the liberty factory. The Bar is located in one corner and works with the many events of the factory, it’s conceived to host 5 different food operator at a time operating simultaneously.

This project made us reflect on the old theme of form and function, the form survives in this case to the function, this was the revolution of Aldo Rossi.

co.arch a young architectural firm, formed by Andrea Pezzoli and Giulia Urciuoli, it deals with interiors and landscape design, is now engaged in the construction of a small store of a young Italian team in Los Angeles. It is also active in a beautiful restoration project of Pigna the former paper factory in Bergamo, a liberty-industrial complex of the early twentieth century in which there will be a large market hall, spaces for start-ups and for culture.

Bar Fase, uno spazio sperimentale che si attiva durante gli eventi, ospitati all'interno delle ex Cartiere Pigna.

Disegnato per mantenere il registro formale della fabbrica della liberty e dei suoi colonnati bianchi, il bar è concepito per ospitare 5 diversi operatori food alla volta che operano contemporaneamente.

Spazio Fase è un complesso di edifici industriali in cui è in corso un progetto di recupero di una splendida fabbrica abbandonata della fine del XIX secolo (ex Cartiera Paolo Pigna) e si propone come modello sperimentale per la rigenerazione economico-sociale di un territorio. Caratterizzato da una struttura architettonica sviluppata su tre piani, con una superficie totale di 40.000 mq in parte già recuperati, conservati e riqualificati. Situato nel cuore di Alzano Lombardo, a pochi km da Bergamo, è stato creato per ospitare diverse esperienze, come incubatore di idee e startup e come promotore di cultura e consapevolezza ambientale, con uno sguardo attento e ricettivo sul territorio. È alimentato da eventi socio-culturali in continuo cambiamento.

Il progetto architettonico mira a restituire parte dello spazio alla comunità, aprendo nuove piazze, che stanno emergendo mentre le superfetazioni non storiche, costruite nel corso degli anni, sono state demolite. Il programma funzionale interno è in continua evoluzione e al momento stiamo sperimentando usi non tradizionali e temporanei, tuttavia non è escluso che parte della ex cartiera ritorni ad essere produttiva in un modo completamente nuovo rispetto al passato e supportata da nuove funzioni e servizi di supporto agli eventi.

Il terzo piano è quello che offre le migliori vetrine di eventi come il Factory Market, un grande mercato di giovani designer di vestiti e oggetti e anche un incubatore di start-up e giovani imprenditori.

Qui abbiamo progettato Bar Fase, uno spazio accogliente che funziona durante gli eventi, mantenendo il registro formale della fabbrica liberty. Il bar è situato in un’area della fabbrica e funziona con i numerosi eventi della fabbrica, è concepito per ospitare 5 diversi operatori food alla volta che operano contemporaneamente.

Questo progetto ci ha fatto riflettere sul vecchio tema della forma e della funzione, la forma sopravvive in questo caso alla funzione, questa è stata la rivoluzione di Aldo Rossi.
