Mas Marroch Vilablareix, Celler Can Roca , Gran Dome
Oriol Roselló, Mónica Alcindor, Carla Graboleda, Roberto Chacón Architectes Girona / Spain / 2016
This new facility is located in the gardens of Mas Marroch, the space where the Celler de Can Roca organizes celebrations. While trying to emulate the concepts of the best restaurant in the world, we became self-imposed to maximize the use of local materials and traditional technological systems adapted to current local artisans.
If we can say that traditional cuisine is the richness of the local landscape on the plate, also in this proposal, we have wanted with the local landscape to create spaces where the roots of the place can feel.
The proposal aims to respond to the subtle transition between the existing garden and the large banquet hall. It is therefore a minimum level of comfort without losing the sensation of exteriority that the garden enjoys; a shelf when it rains, shade on sunny days or when it rains wind. In fact the program will remain flexible enough to be able to organize the maximum number of activities.
The proposal has employed few but exploited materials at its maximum potential, it has been a work without packaging, plastics or excessive sophisticated machines
• 1,800 Tons Graves premises for foundations, rebuilt and drainage
• 600 Tn Pedra de Calaf (300m3) for pillars, pavement and furniture
• 50 Tn Douglas wood (80 m3) per dome, platforms, furniture and pergolas
• 5 Tons. Steel for straps, ocules, pergolas and structural plates
• 2 Tn Methacrylate for transparent dome tiles
• 0.6 Tn Zenc Iron (139 m2) for lined ribs and gutters.
Of the total of 2,457.6 Tn of materials used, 99% responds to the local, reversible, low energy incorporated and little manipulated origin criteria.
