‘HONEY by Chord’ is a beauty salon built in a suburban area of Tokyo. It was designed to give feel of a cottage, each subdivided space having a different plan without boundaries between rooms. The normally hidden area used to mix the hair color has been fashioned to create the impression of a craftsman’s workshop. A large tiled table located in the main part of the salon not only serves a functional purpose but also creates a natural place for conversation between clients and staff.
