In Bulzoni the stylistic hallmark of composition is refined rustic. Strato has acquired an ancient third generation ‘enoteca’ in the heart of the Parioli neighbourhood in order to transform it into a modern wine bar open for food services and perfect for a roman night out. Launched in 1929 for wine sales, oils and vinegars on tap for the residents and the workers of the district that was being built around that time, now Bulzoni welcomes customers in a space designed to elevate the ritual of wine pouring as well as the vast array of wine offerings, particularly the natural ones. So you see durmast tables and wine-coloured wood flooring and walls, while the old wooden counter with a marble top and a reclaimed cotto-tiled staircase between the ground floor and the cellar are further references to the tradition and the style of old French Champagne bars. “We didn’t want to lose Bulzoni’s dimension of old emporium that has been at the heart of the neighbourhood for 90 years and represents one of its most successful characteristics” Fraschetti and Tattolo explain. “For this reason we have chosen warm materials and colours, able to evoke the tradition and history of these premises”. In the distribution of space the role of the balcony is paramount, as this is the central element not only in the architectural sense, but also from an emotional point of view, because Bulzoni’s relationship with the Parioli neighbourhood and its residents is based on the ritual of pouring out the wine - and this has become a reference point for nearly a century.
