Fortress Franzensfeste- Construction "C" – BBT Infopoint | Markus Scherer Architekt

The project involved the recovery and the partial reconstruction of the wing at the western end of Forte Basso at Forte di Fortezza (BZ), destined for exhibition spaces and offices of BBT SE.

The recovery project partly returned one of the three volumes destroyed in the seventies for the construction of the underpass tunnel of the SS12, works that left a chasm at the underlying stretch of the road. The architectural intervention heals this wound by creating a new multifunctional hall at the elevation of the upper courtyard, designed on the impression of the vanished building and, therefore, like a bridge on the road, using few simple materials for the exterior that are suitable for a harmonious integration into the historical context.

L’intervento ha riguardato il recupero e la ricostruzione parziale dell’ala all’estremità ovest del Forte Basso del Forte di Fortezza (BZ), destinandola a spazi espositivi e uffici della BBT SE. Il progetto di recupero ha in parte restituito uno dei tre volumi andato distrutto negli anni Settanta per la realizzazione della galleria di sottopasso della SS12, lavori che lasciarono una voragine in corrispondenza del sottostante tratto di strada. L’intervento architettonico risana questa ferita realizzando alla quota del cortile superiore una nuova sala polifunzionale disegnata sull’impronta dell’edificio scomparso e, dunque, a ponte sulla strada, utilizzando per l’esterno pochi semplici materiali che si addicono ad un armonico inserimento nel contesto storico.
