As the third important commission concerning the Shui Wan 1979 complex in Shenzhen, Area-17 Architecture & Interiors designed the lobbies that give access to the three residential towers.

On the outside, the intervention affects the first three floor of the façades. A geometric pattern plays with the alternation among polished stone, opaque stone, and metal inserts.

The interiors express a fresh, laid-back elegance, made of precious materials crafted in an unusual way. Polychrome marbles draw an inlaid floor that calls to mind a flower meadow; other inserts in light green marble embellish the wooden mail boxes. The hinting to the natural world culminates in the vertical green walls, which from the inside explode into the street, establishing a direct interplay between spaces.

Glares and reflections are key to the project too. Light bounces on metallic surfaces and polished marble slabs, resulting in precious series of glows well visible even from the outside. Works of art by young Chinese emerging talents complete the décor. The interiors are co-designed with Sergio Mannino.
