Ruijin Soviet Town is located in Ruijin, a historically significant area in China. The client intended to build up a small town providing visitors to benefit from the tourist attractions on offer. The town itself evokes historical events which occurred during the first half of the 20th century while embracing its rich Hakka culture. Traditional handcraft, local opera, food and a unique architectural style are some of the offerings presented here that are currently under threat of extinction as a result of rapid urban development.

A lake in the centre of the site, surrounded by shops and hospitals which reference traditional Hakka and Soviet architecture styles and seek to faithfully recreate the Ruijin of 1931. The Project itself aspires to create an integrated framework for local communities and seamlessly fit into the region’s long-term urban plan. This is, after all, not only a new tourist destination but also a fundamental aspect of increasing regional development.
