Stone walls, tile roofs and large floor-to-ceiling openings combined the image of this single storey residence dwelling before its renovation. Influences from the modern architecture of the period, combined with elements that refer to a country house, created a building that without being special or iconic, had a sweet and pleasant aura, reminding the carefree and tranquil life in the suburbs of the 60's.

The strategy of the intervention was evident from the first glance. The aura of the existing building and the neighborhood in which it is located, was the starting point of the design and the inspiration for the vision of the architectural proposal. The new residence should maintain the discreet charm of the past. By paying tribute to the great teachers of modern Greek architecture, a completely modern home was designed to cover all the functional needs of its occupants, while creating a peaceful and warm retreat from the intensity of everyday life

The stone walls are redesigned in a new layout  in order to approach the austere geometry and purity characterizing the work of famous greek architect Aris Konstantinidis. The interiors are rearranged in a manner influenced by residence of another significant greek architect of the 60’s, Ioannis Despotopoulos. A single, continuous wood structure extends throughout the interior, creating and incorporating rooms, furniture, cabinets and hidden doors. Wardrobes, liquor cabinet, even TV, are in a continuum with  wooden coverings and partitions,  disappearing into a single woodwork.

A tribute to the  Athenian modernist tradition, this residence with warm materials and pue of design, shapes the vision of a modern home, pleasant  and cozy, embracing the past and seeing in the future.
