Castle Resort Competition - Finalist

The construction of Raccomandolfi castle was divided into three major phases, not necessarily very apart. The first, the oldest, is on the square tower place in the north, catheterized by a thick wall in which there are two major loopholes where we added the interior part that contains info box and cafeteria with a full respect for the ruins; The second was a signnificant expansion, with the creation of the scrap wall, bastides and semi circular towers; And the third was adding small spaces quadrangular (the entrance). In the last two phases, we just manipulating the castle through an observation space on the high bastide, a contemplation space on the lower one and a Belvedere in between two semi circular tower with a fascinating view frame.

The unit concept followed two main guidelines_ Trulli vernacular houses in their forms and functions where there is one or multiple units following their needs, on the other hand integrating in the Forrest where we can find on tree or a group of trees. Then tho combination of these two sources of inspiration have allowed the existence of a new flexible and integrated module using modern materials such as glass, steel and solar panels in addition to wood.
