Concept

At the age of 21, I have been to Northern Europe to see the aurora. I still remember how excited I was when I saw a room 606 (which was a sweet room designed by Arne Jacobsen) at Royal Hotel in Copengagen. Beautiful furniture and lightings were amazingly well matched in a simplicity of the room. I also remember how fashionably the cities and towns were designed there. With our music cafe & bar, kabutopiano, I have tried to reproduce the excitement that I felt when I saw the beautiful, sophisticated room and the cities in Northern Europe.

Music System

SCM100sl/II by ATC Loudspeaker Technology Ltd., This best quality speaker makes you feel as if you were actually listening to the music concert. The fine, realistic sound is the unique point. This is not for loud sounds but for appliciating the sophisticated music sounds.

Furniture Like a Fashion

With the aim of making an enjoyable, friendly atmosphere, we have selected textiles by mina perhonen for the seats of the chairs. The high quality textile changes its shape and expression as you use it. We are sure you can’t stop loving the chairs with mina perhonen’s textiles.

Long Long Nights in Northern Europe

In winter, the night becomes very long and people tend to stay inside longer. Because of that, lighting is very important in Northern Europe. The tough weather climate led the people to create eco-friendly lights. The Scandinavian designed simple pendant lights give you fresh and high quality light at our music cafe & bar, kabutopiano. “Doo-Wop” makes a cozy, tender atmosphere with its soft light. We have also planned the lights show the dishes on the table beautifully.

Approach Road That Rises Customer's Expectations

We have made the hall way dark and heavy so that the inner part of the shop looks bright and alluring. We also intend to rise the customer’s expectations and make them relaxed when they enter the bright inner part of the shop.

Display Shelf That Shows Our Wishes

The shelf was made to display the owner’s thoughts and wishes and to bring some conversations with customers. What the shelf shows may change as the owner’s mood.

The Five Frame Wreaths

Hand-made wreaths, inspired by the handmade culture in Northern Europe. The 5 wreaths represent each country in Northern Europe; Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland.

Have a Quality Time with Your Favorite Alcohol

We have spaghetti aglio e olio and tomato sauce spaghetti for lunch. At night, we have 50 types of alcohol, so customers can pick their favorite. But actually, we recommend you boiled dumplings. It tastes very good with Chinese black vinegar.

Thoughts behind the Logo Mark

The owner used to work at stock brokerage firm. “kabu” means stock in Japanese. And of course, he loves music. “Piano” represents music. That’s why the shop name is “kabutopiano” meaning “stock and piano”. We selected our home-roasted coffee as a symbol, and tried to make the tender and warm atmosphere of Northern Europe by using a round word font. The orange color is inspired by the warm sun light that I felt in Northern Europe . We used lovable beetles, which is “kabutomushi” in Japanese, for an toilet and smoking area icons.
