Located in the densely populated area of Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon, the project is a narrow tower packed between two neighboring buildings, representing a very typically Hong Kong urban condition of exaggerated verticality. The façade design plays with the idea of a cage, with a protective layer wrapping the whole building. The tower is enclosed in screens, to add a layer of privacy to the interiors. The podium is wrapped in traditional retractable metal gates used commonly for local shop fronts. The context of narrow and bustling lanes is also extended to the interior, with public and circulation spaces paved in brick and walls finished in raw concrete. Given the extremely small footprint, room space is maximized by custom furniture that both defines the space and meets all the functional needs. The wardrobe with integrated sink gives the impression of an open kitchen, the working desk is at bar height and contains a mini-bar, while beds are conveniently equipped with outlets and integrated lights.
