New Zealand’s foremost broadcaster embarked on a revolution of their workplace to ensure their future environment was able to adapt and flex to suit the ever changing nature of the media industry. Under the strategic moniker ‘Open and Live’ the desire was to move toward an open, collegiate culture which celebrates the dynamics of the media industry and promotes a vibrant workplace representative of TVNZ employees and collaborators.

The 10,000m² refurbishment of TVC involved the repurposing of the original 1989 Warren and Mahoney designed building to suit the required working environment. Predominantly open plan, the workplace has taken a campus style arrangement, connecting multiple areas of a complex site to ensure that the workplace has a holistic and united design language. The workplace is structured around an existing atrium running east to west through the site which enables the various business units to interact in shared spaces on multiple bridges, in social spaces and cleverly located quiet spaces.
