The project's aim is to create a new sport's city
to hold sportive and cultural events all year long, bringing new dynamic
activities to the residential quarter around the Milan's old fair complex, becoming a new Milan’s urban landmark.
The mixed-use complex acts as a merging point
between two different zones from the city: from one side, a traditional dense
residential area and from the other, a new zone characterized by its high-rise
towers and the “City Life Park”.
The proposal looks forward to optimize the
building’s functionality, guarantying its flexibility and to renew its
aesthetical representativeness while preserving its original structure; all of
this considering with particular attention its energetic efficiency and
acoustic isolation quality.
The commercial area, sportive shops and museum are
located inside the elliptic volume's perimeter, while the inner part is
consecrate to multifunctional activities like area for concerts and sportive
events. The external Piazza protected by the new cantilevered roof is conceived
as an internal activities extension area able to function as an open public
place for social gathering and open air activities such as: skateboard park,
market area, sport's cages or jogging route.
