The H10 Puerta de Alcalá is a charming hotel with a strategic location on Calle de Alcalá, in Madrid's exclusive Salamanca neighbourhood, near El Retiro Park. H10 Hotels acquired the establishment in 2016, and it has reopened its doors after significant refurbishment in both the common areas and guest rooms. The hotel stands out for its urban-inspired interior design and features the new El Cielo de Alcalá Terrace, with a glass plunge pool on the top floor.Found at no. 66 Calle de Alcalá, the H10 Puerta de Alcalá lies on the Golden Mile, the biggest luxury shopping area, and is near El Retiro Park and Madrid’s Palacio de Deportes. Its privileged setting in the city’s cultural and recreational centre means that it is within walking distance of various tourist points and it is easy to access public transport. The hotel’s urban-inspired decoration was created by interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán and features numerous props, such as sculptures and pictures, that visitors will discover as they enter the establishment. One of the most distinctive of these details is the impressively tall sculpture found behind the front desk. Taking its cues from brutalism, it floods the space with personality. The lobby is also home to the eye-catching stairs and deep red curtains, which contrast with the other more sober decorative elements. The establishment has 138 rooms, all of which have large windows and an interior design where the main feature is the wooden headboard and the compositions of pictures. Many of the rooms provide fantastic views of the Salamanca neighbourhood.Of the six room types, the Classic Rooms and Deluxe Rooms with terrace are of particular note, as they feature large furnished outdoor spaces with views of Calle de Alcalá, one of Madrid’s main thoroughfares.
The hotel also offers 14 rooms that are fully equipped for families. These include amenities specifically for children, such as children’s bathrobes and special soaps.

The rooms are equipped with all amenities, such as a 32”–49” LED TV with international channels and a professional hairdryer. Some rooms – including the Superior Rooms and Junior Suites – also feature a rain shower head, Nespresso coffee machine, bathrobe and slippers, daily water refills and personalised amenities. The hotel’s corridors are decorated with eye-catching pictures of human faces that seem to be watching visitors and provide an unquestionably contemporary air.The Alcalá Restaurant is a large space that serves a full buffet breakfast centred on healthy options, such as the wide range of fresh juices or the assorted fruits, cereals, seeds and nuts. It also has a special corner for people with food intolerances, where guests can find home-made gluten-free cakes, for example. The area benefits from natural light and stands out for the contrast between its large glass case with mirrors and the original cork walls that imbue the space with warmth. The Lobby Bar also has large windows that look out onto Calle de Alcalá. Open to both hotel guests and the public, service starts at midday and runs until night-time. It offers a selection of gourmet coffee specialities, tasty Mediterranean tapas, home-made cakes, in addition to cocktails and premium gin and tonics. An interesting feature of its decoration is a round mirror that turns into a large television when switched on.
This makes for a good meeting place for sporting events.

One of the hotel’s gems is undoubtedly the newly-opened El Cielo de Alcalá terrace. Located on the top floor, this is a space that is unique in Madrid and privileged thanks to its excellent views of El Retiro Park and the city, particularly the Cuatro Torres Business Area, the KIO Towers and the emblematic Edificio España skyscraper. The terrace is made up of two areas with different vibes: in one you will find the fabulous glass plunge pool, through which the Puerta de Alcalá is visible, as well as a sunlounger area that is perfect for enjoying a sunny day; the other features food service, ideal for finishing off the day with Mediterranean tapas and a signature cocktail during the summer season. The hotel has three meeting rooms, two of which benefit from natural light and can be joined to hold up to 150 people. In addition, the El Cielo de Alcalá Terrace is an exceptional setting for drinks receptions, while the Alcalá Restaurant is ideal for holding group lunches or dinners.Lastly, additional services also featured at the hotel include free Wi-Fi, the free Business Corner and a car park. The H10 Puerta de Alcalá is the third H10 Hotels establishment in Madrid, where the chain also has the H10 Villa de la Reina, a Boutique Hotel located on the Gran Vía, and the H10 Tribeca, just metres from Paseo de la Castellana.
