Emotions of wood and design

In architecture, when luxury and craftsmanship blend in a natural and refined way, the overall effect can be emotional and unique. It is the case of this house nestled in the Dolomites, with an exceptional view of Cortina d'Ampezzo, realized by Outline Studio 74, a team of young and emerging designers that combine in the contemporaneity the typically alpine architectural style together with modern references of design. The project shows the ability of the designers Giulio de Filippo and Fabrizio Luchetti in being able to blend innovation and tradition in an original way, with an overall result that arouses emotions. The emotion of the wood, which dominates here undisputed in the paneling and in the furnishings, but also the emotion of the design, of those innovative and appealing forms, elegant and luxurious, capable of giving to the interiors a sophisticated but essential soul. Solid wood, stone, resins, textiles and pieces of outstanding design give rise to a unique example of different styles that are at the same time complementary: on the one hand the classic taste of Cortina, Queen of the Dolomites and  champion of the alpine architectural language par excellence, on the other the new and linear character of the modern interior design. This house is on two levels, connected by a scenographic staircase apparently suspended, where solid wood steps lit by small LED spotlights are anchored to the wall on one side only, giving rise to a sublime game of full and empty, of lights and shadows made even more special by the mirror of the landing of the stairs. The large windows that frame the Dolomite peaks and reveal the charming view of the Ampezzo valley flood with light the living area, providing a natural lighting, heated also by a set of LED lighting of handicraft production. And it is there, where the antique larch wood envelops modern and sophisticated shapes in an extraordinarily elegant way, that the details of the tradition collide pleasantly with the contemporary plastic materials, in a successful union between the Alpine style and the avant-garde configurations of the interior design. Among the soft leather sofas, the precious Louis Vuitton trunks and the leather carpets wink to a return of the fashion of the 70s, while a deer antler remembers the Alpine location of the house. The romantic fireplace kept in the wood paneling of the wall completes the warm and friendly atmosphere typical of a mountain home; it is flanked by a library and by an innovative detail dedicated to the technology. The open space of the dining room is dominated by the important table realized with a single floor of antique solid wood, recovered from the flooring of an old barn, supported by two plates in glass and that goes well with the delicate chairs in plexiglass. Again the meticulous attention to the details impresses and attracts, as for the elegant silver candelabra that reproduces the horns of deer, a majestic ornament in perfect harmony with the traditionally alpine style of Cortina, while the kitchen, in antique larch wood , shows a nice contrast of surfaces between wood, steel and resin. And finally the bedrooms, each complete with private bathroom, express the language of the land and all the taste of the mountain style: wood paneling and solid wood cabinets, stone for the washbasins, obtained from a single piece coming from Indonesia, taps of outstanding design, wooden frames carved by hand ... Items that follow each other and are mixed intelligently in a continuous and sublime blend of styles and interpretations that excites.
