Chang You is a computer games company with about 3500 employees working in the same building. Our design concept introduced a new way to understand office space. Inspired by artist Richard Serra’s sculptures and reinterpreting the way office space is used, our design deal with a rich and fluid space where every angle and perspective looks and feel always different.

The plan layout reflect many variables apart from the client’s program or requirements, which is more related with the psychological and physical needs, something much more deeper than the function itself.

We decided to make equal the sunlight and exterior views to everybody, placing the open working stations in the inner areas of the building and the public resting areas and corridors next to the windows.

We have been trying to rethink the traditional office layout, pursuing a more democratic and efficient layout and space quality, considering that people spent too many hours a week inside the office space. Working areas were designed with colors, soft materials and printed images, public areas and corridors, with hard and durable materials in pure white, in this way, people get an intimate relation with their working station and have a neutral relation with the public space.

We like to intruduce a contrasting gesture in our projects, therefore, curved walls is always a nice recourse when we work with regular geometry.

Curved walls allow you to discover everyday a new angle, a new perspective, when people go from the lift to their working station, for example, that routinely passage became everyday a new spatial experience.
