BENETTON: SANTO DENTI ARCHITECT: BUTTERFLY BUILDING BY BENETTON.
A great challenge in light of the facts in the record occurred in December. Brands "Western" as a contested symbol of the "evil", to represent the cultural invasion perpetrated by the West, towards the Arab culture. The need to find new forms of dialogue in a respectful confrontation, aimed at helping and supporting all forms of exchange and interaction between different cultures.
The butterfly as a symbol of gracefulness and delicacy, and the butterfly as a symbol of respect and not abuse, as the Butterfly Universal multicolored expression of joy and innocence.
This is the first assessment of the necessary "environment" that an Architect must consider: the impact in the culture of a people.
The Project "Butterfly Building By Benetton” wants to express this, the project fits into the fabric of Urban Vali Asr Street, Tehran, path characterized by the presence of commercial and residential. Updating the area of intervention aims to create a point of attraction for the population of Teheran, "Butterfly Building By Benetton” is a Polyfunctional space, is an area that favors the "pause" and not "switching" to the long axis of urban crossing consisting of Vali Asr Street. The Project "Butterfly Building By Benetton” develops around certain nodal points, including: The creation of courts and the Interior hanging gardens on several levels: the construction of the Square Blanket on the ground floor; the accessibility provided by covered pedestrian paths arranged on the perimeter and suspended routes crossing internal; the fulcrum formed by the "central tower" which captures all the vertical connections (consisting of N° 4 lifts and N° 2 stairwells), encapsulated in a "Chrysalis" of glass to symbolize the "transformation" and "metamorphosis evolution”; the four towers, or" butterfly wings ", which branch off from the central tower is tapered expanding upwards to the sky, overlooking all within it, towards the" Chrysalis ", to be an inseparable relationship with the their origins.
The Project "Butterfly Building By Benetton” moves from an understanding: namely that human activity inevitably has an impact on the environment and at the same time, the environment profoundly influences human action. In light of these considerations, the environmental compliance will be pursued at every stage and level: The eco-compatibility, the eco-sustainability, reducing emissions, the use of renewable energy (all roofs are made of photovoltaic panels), the use of ventilated facade with high thermal insulation and glass curtain walls with low Emissive to reduce the solar factor, the use of natural materials free of harmful materials, reuse of rainwater, such as water and sanitary water for irrigation hanging gardens, all contribute to support, strengthen and implement the objectives stated and pursued in the project "Building Butterfly By Benetton."
