The St. James Theatre is the first newly built theatre to open in London’s West End for 30 years. The new theatre development is on the site of the original Westminster Theatre in Victoria. The scheme comprises a residential development, designed by Loates-Taylor Shannon Architects, with a Theatre at ground, first and basement levels, designed by Foster Wilson Architects. There are two auditoria, a 312 seat main theatre and a second cabaret and music venue for an audience of 160, plus new front of house areas incorporating bars and a restaurant. The theatre provision is the subject of a Section 106 Agreement.
