OPEL Paris Motor Show 2016 - The e-mobility revolution


Opel’s exhibition stand concept for Mondial l’Automobile in Paris, the motor show that attracts more visitors than any other in the world, demonstrates its courage to be different.


It is democratizing e-mobility with the world premiere of the longest-range electric car and inviting visitors to enter this new, sustainable world.


Making this e-mobility revolution visible takes creativity, courage and vision, as well as an obvious departure from the typical stand designs that can be found at motor shows.


So the concept deliberately focuses on one of the oldest storytelling techniques around – the perspective theatre. Instead of using digital technology to create three-dimensional spaces it incorporates many milled motifs on different levels that are enacted with light and kinetics.


This unusual stand design attracted the attention of visitors, while the impressive architecture reflected the fact that Opel is a premium brand and provided the framework for the window opening out into Opel’s new e-mobility (product) world.


The specially designed visual language was unusually emotive and humorous, contrasting starkly with the digital world. They also had authenticity and likeability that appealed to visitors, while communicating complex technical content in an entertaining and engaging way.


The communication focus was the 500 km plus range of the Ampera-e, expressed in a mechanical game presenting a competitive race from London to the fair in Paris and a show combining mechanical (analogue) and digital moving images.


Other highlights of Opel’s revolutionary electric car, such as the sports-car-like driving experience, the large interior and digital networking were told in a fun, surprising and entertaining story by the Ampera-e character, Mr OH.


Outside the new sustainable world of e-mobility, Opel presented itself as the individualization leader with its Adam model and the merchandise collection.


The trade fair project OPEL Paris Motor Show 2016 was conceived by eventlabs Creative Director Fabian Tank for leadagency VITAMIN E and realised in cooperation with Tim John - Atelier for Scenography and Jochen Hirschfeld from Livingroom Pictures.
